Yays and Nays: Celebrity Style This Week

Hi all! These fabulously dressed women are our style stars of the week thus far. It may seem like in the world of Hollywood it would be easy finding four well-dressed people but that is not the case. However, these ladies did it right so well done to them!

Jennifer Lopez- Elie Saab can do no wrong and this dress proves it. The emerald green is gorgeous on J-Lo's tan skin. The high neck and sheer sleeves add a touch of elegance not normally seen at the TCA's. Her middle part, minimal makeup and accessories and killer heels make this look work in every way. I only wish I was as ageless as Jennifer!

Heather Graham- Polka dots on a red carpet?! Yes, and it totally works. Heather Graham looks stunning here and younger than ever. Her simple but tasteful polka dot sheath dress is a perfect fit for her.  Her subtle accessories and simple makeup make us focus on her glorious, luminous skin. Did I forget to mention this woman is FORTY FOUR. I know, I can't believe it either. My only teensy complaint is that I wish she had chosen better shoes.

Grade: B+

Nina Dobrev- I know I know matching outfits are everywhere and crop tops are even more abundant but how cute is this outfit! Nina's Vionnet outfit was an ace choice for the TCA's.  The quirky print, great braid and the subtle crop top work well together. I definitely don't hate it! One note: It is summer and I wish she had chosen a nice heeled sandal, it would have looked better than the closed toe suede pumps. Always dress for the season!

Taylor Swift- WHAT! Are your eyes deceiving you? Did I accidentally make Taylor Swift a style star? Why yes, I did indeed and on purpose (although this may be the last time for awhile unless she gets rid of 99.9% of her shoes). At first glance it looks like a nice dress with an intricate flower print but lo and behold it is yet again a matching outfit!  I love that it isn't super cropped like everything else these days. A bra is not a top everyone! The sheer panels also give it a subtly sexy edge perfect for day or night. Where does this outfit come from you ask? Taylor is dressed in a top and skirt from none other than H and M. I never would have guessed that! Never fear she balanced out her mostly affordable outfit with some Elie Saab heels. My only complaint is her hair. Girlfriend needs less of a blow out and bangs or even better to revert back to her gorgeous curls.

Yikes! What is happening here?! Here are the fashion disasters of the week. Please do me a favor and don't ever make these mistakes. 

Hilary Duff- Just like every other millennial I grew up with Hilary Duff. I stood by her side through the Lindsay Lohan feud and listened to her songs but I will not stand by this outfit choice. I love a good high neck top but this Sachin and Babi top is a no no. I understand the cluster of red flowers at the top are meant to be a pop of color but they look like they were bought at Michael's and glued on. And really Hilary a leather skirt? It's summer in California let's not pretend you needed all that material on your legs. Leather is a huge trend and I am a sucker for leather jackets but always DRESS FOR THE SEASON. You are better than this Hilary!

Pros: Nice shoes and clutch.

Jessica Alba- Jessica is someone who can normally pull off any trend flawlessly however this was an outfit fail. Casual chic is in but this is taking it too far. The layering tank top worn underneath a sweater should never be peeking out. The tank should be tucked into whatever pants you're wearing to make your outfit look more put together. Also Jessica, travel/lounge/comfy/drawstring pants are not dressy and should never be worn with heels. Even worse, these are leather baggy drawstring pants. Try not to visibly cringe at the thought, I dare you.

 Pros: Her makeup and heels are great.

Vanessa Hudgens- Oh Vanessa, what happened to your style? I used to love and want everything you wore circa 2008. Sadly, she took her fantastic boho chic style and let it evolve into something I can't put into words. On it's own I adore this River Island midi-dress. It's a great color ( also comes in red, black and yellow on their site!) and fits her perfectly. However, it's hard to tell because she has a completely unnecessary, large flannel shirt tied around her waist. She also has her bra straps hanging out unattractively. Strapless bra much Vanessa. The 90's grunge style is back in full force and I can't wait for it to disappear. I don't even know what to say about the Birkenstocks on her feet. Atrocious. It's a bit hard to tell but Vanessa is rocking some serious talons for nails. I understand wanting your nails to look good and for some people that means a nice fake nail...but there is no way they should be over 2 inches long with sharp ends that could stab someone. But okay Vanessa, we get it, you just woke up and threw this on . Trust me we can all tell. We all know you can do better, please try.

Pros: I adore the dress, just worn with a strapless bra.

Grade: D-

Scout Willis- Scout is definitely not shy about showing her body. This is the same person who strolled topless in protest through the streets of New York. However, there is a time and place for showing some skin. She appears to be wearing an over-sized men's shirt that is ill fitting even unbuttoned. Also someone needs to tell Scout a bralet is not a shirt no matter what Urban Outfitters says. High waisted jeans are usually a good look (and my personal favorite!) but not when they're all bunchy at the bottom. Scout, your parents are Bruce and Demi, I am sure you can afford a tailor. If you cannot afford a tailor it's always a good idea to give your jeans a nice cuff (don't forget to check in the mirror to make sure they're even in the front AND back) especially when wearing ankle boots.

 Pros: Someone has been doing sit ups! Well done Scout your abs are looking great and I am jealous.
