Fall Outfit Inspiration

Fall is finally here to stay. Nice cool days with chillier nights. Time to search the always amazing tumblr for some fashion inspiration. Are you on tumblr? You should be, everyone cool is on tumblr now. Tumblr has vast amonts of photos that you can scroll through easily, and save to your own dashboard. I found this gorgeous outfit from Paris fashion week while browsing, (check out my tumblr for fashion inspiration: ellewhoshops.tumblr.com) and decided I needed to recreate this look.

This outfit is the epitome of layering to perfection. A button up below a cable knit, below a stunning forest green coat. Navy blue and black is one of my favorite color combinations, and this outfit shows why. The navy sweater compliments all the black in the pants, shoes, and shirt below it. It also adds a nice touch of color once the coat is taken off. Peter Pan collars are adorable, there is no way around it. They add a touch of femininity to the androgynous button down shirt. While green is not my favorite color, the rich color of it in this blazer boyfriend coat is gorgeous. This style of coat is flattering on everyone, and you can throw it on over anything, and it will make your outfit look sharper, and instantly more pulled together. Last year, I snagged an Anne Klein, oversized boyfriend coat with leather accents. I throw it on over everything and I instantly feel more stylish and like I deserve to strut down the street. Want to recreate this look and look chic walking down the street? Find out how to recreate this perfect fall look below.

Office Chic: Steal Her Look

Stalking celebrity style is outrageously fun, but for 99.9% of us, absolutely unattainable. However, the best part is finding pieces that can recreate the look for way less. Here is the always hilarious Emma Stone on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. How nice does she look?! Don't you want to wear this outfit out as soon as possible?

Source: Tom and Lorenzo

This look is perfect for work (maybe add tights if the skirt is too short), brunch, happy hour, date night, etc. It's completely versatile and charming, while not being too boring or unoriginal. I am a huge fan of the skirt and sweater look ( as seen in my recent Look of the Day post), it looks adorable and can also hide any flaws you think you might be seeing in the mirror that day. The skirt that Emma is wearing is perfect. It's a lightly flared, plaid scuba skirt and looks great on her. Scuba skirts are marvelous. They look great on any figure, come in various lengths, and are available at numerous stores this season. The (potentially) cropped sweater she is wearing tucked in to the skirt looks fantastic, and the pop of red in her heels adds a nice touch of color to her monochrome look. This outfit looks great with the heels, but if you're not a heel person, it would look equally chic with some leather ankle boots or comfortable ballet flats for work. I personally haven't worn black nail polish since my high school days, when I thought I was cool and wore band shirts and denim minis (cringe!), but seeing it on Emma makes me want to try it out as an adult. Emma is wearing minimal accessories, however you can always spruce up this look with a fun statement necklace or an arm of bracelets.

Want to dress like Emma and be the most stylish person in your office? Find out how to recreate this look below!

Finally Feeling Fall: Outfit of the Day

Today, I gave in to fall. I have been resisting the chillier weather for a couple weeks now because I adore summer. However, now that I finally broke out my fall wardrobe, I couldn't be happier. After a summer in Asia, I forgot how nice it felt to be in a cozy sweater, and how great ankle boots look with everything I own.

Last weekend, I was smart enough to head over to H&M and luckily, I wasn't disappointed. Everything in the sale was an extra 50% off! How can you beat that?! Today when I had to pick out my outfit, I pulled out the new scuba skirt I got for the fantastic price of $3.50 ( UNREAL, please go to an H&M near you and experience this glorious sale), my favorite cable-knit burgundy sweater and some MIA ankle boots. Honestly, the look was perfectly adorable as well as being cozy beyond belief.

My new favorite combination fall is definitely a great swingy skirt ( I have yet to try it with a pencil look- that's for next week!) paired with a sweater. It's a classy look that can take you from work to happy hour and can be worn with flats, sneakers, boots or heels. Honestly, what's not to love about it? I'm sure you already own a ton of cute and comfortable sweaters, so go out and treat yourself to a swirly skirt and some tights and try it! The sweater/skirt combo is extremely versatile and looks amazing on everyone.

Find out how you can recreate this look below!

Triplets in California: Who Wore it Best?

It's the battle of the maxi dress! Nicole Scherzinger, Vanessa Hudgens  and Michelle Monaghan were all spotted wearing the Somedays Lovin Liar Liar Dress (it can be found here for $60!). This dress is great and has a fun geometric print with a gorgeous, cut out racer-back.

(Photo Credit: Imgur and the Daily Mail)

Let's discuss who wore it best. First, can we talk about how amazing Nicole's hair looks? Does she walk around with a hair stylist to blow out her hair every time she leaves the car?! Stunning.  However, the snake skin heels and bag add too much print to an already busy dress. Vanessa Hudgens, in all her boho glamour, added a long necklace, mirrored shades and some shoes that look like comfort-wear from Dr. Scholls. Not a fan of those shoes, Vanessa. Also, I see that bizarre cell phone case that is trying to be the world's smallest purse. It looks ridiculous. We all know it's a phone case,  please put a normal phone case on without a handle and use an actual purse .  Finally, we have Michelle Monaghan. She added a summery hat and sandals for her shopping trip in Beverly Hills. I have nothing to complain about here! She looks great and although hats are not my thing, I'm just jealous she can pull one off so well. These lucky ladies are all on the warm west coast,  but if you're like me and already facing fall east side, add a leather or denim jacket and some ankle boots and the dress will be ready for cooler temperatures.

Who do you think wore it best? Will you be adding this dress to your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments!

Luxe Essentials

Being a woman is difficult. Aside from having to birth children and remembering to shave our legs, the fashion world is constanly changing on us. There are  always new crazes people veer to and rules about what you should or shouldn't wear ( although, I think it's important to never follow and always break the rules). How's a girl to keep up?! The best way to try and get a handle and feel confident in your wardobe, is to make sure you have some wonderful luxe essentials. It's true, clothes, shoes and everything else you need can be expensive but if you make sure to spend the appropriate amount of money on a few great quality items, they will last you a long while. Even though these are luxe, all of these essentials are under $250!

Here are four absolutely indispensable items worthy of your hard-earned money:

1. Leather Jacket

Leather jackets ( or vegan leather!) are fantastic . They add an edge to any and every outfit and can be thrown atop anything. I have had my leather jacket for five years now  and it has gotten even better with age. The black leather has withstood everything I've deemed to put it through over the years, and I'm sure once you  indulge in a nice one it will do the same. There are many options these days: hooded, quilted, bike, navy, black ,white but whatever you choose make sure you truly love it so you can wear it in perfectly and have it for years.

Here are some options to get you shopping:

2. Heels

Whether it's a classic black pump or strappy heels almost too gorgeous to wear, it's imperative you have a perfect , (somewhat)comfortable pair of heels you can always rely on to complete any outfit. The brands I love to treat myself to are Sam Edelman and Dolce Vita. I can always rely on them to come out with superior quality, stylish, leather heels or wedges all for a great price. Sidenote: I am usually lucky enough to find these brands at nordstrom rack or on amazon on sale! There are two essential rules you need to know before investing in a fabulous new pair of shoes. First and foremost is to make sure you will wear them a lot and can integrate them smoothly into your wardrobe. Secondly ( and most importantly) you must know how to walk in them. Practice walking around in your room if need be. There is nothing worse than seeing someone walking like a teetering drunk because they do not know how to properly walk in heels.

3. Jeans

I am a self proclaimed jean whore. I absolutely love treating myself to a great new pair of jeans. There 100% is a difference between premium denim and jeans from American Eagle, and if you don't know the difference fork over about $165 and trust me, you will not regret it. Premium, well-made denim, conforms to your body and molds itself to you for a flattering, comfortable fit. As previously stated in this blog, my favorite brand is rag & bone. They fit my body like  a glove. Every season, they come out with new washes but my favorite are their classics. The high-rise in heritage which is a dark inky blue and in coal. I cannot recommend them enough. I also wear and love 7 for all mankind and J Brand jeans. Before investing in a pair (they are pricey!) go try on a lot of brands at a department store like Bloomingdales, to find a brand and wash you truly love.

Here are some of my personal recommendations to get you started. I own and love all of these jeans:

rag&bone heritage

7 for all mankind the Skinny in Rinsed Indigo

J Brand mid-rise Dark Vintage

4. The Perfect Bag

Whether it's a cross-body, satchel or backpack, owning a great bag is imperative to your everyday life. What else will you carry your stuff in?! Carrying your wallet, phone, etc adds up to a lot of things you need so having a functional, and great looking bag is essential. I wear a purse whenever I go anywhere and if you do the same , it's worth spending a little more to have the right size and quality bag that you love and will use frequently.

Style to Inspire

Here's another dose of fashion inspiration for your closet. These looks all feature Keira Knightley, quite simply because  I adore her. She's a great actress, witty and a style maven. She can pull off any look and not look like she's trying too hard. She mixes the perfect blend of edgy and classic to make even her simplest outfits pure chic. Here are four of my favorite (well four of many favorites) Keira street shots that are perfect for weathering through fall.

This is a fantastic fall outfit. Booties and tights are an excellent match. Layering a sweater over a floral mini dress (can be substituted for a skirt)as Keira has done here is the perfect way to bring your summer florals into fall.

Keira is wearing the gorgeous, sought after Balenciaga quilted leather jacket (don't get me started on her beautiful Chanel bag). It is stunning and sadly unattainable unless you're Keira or a millionaire. However, this Mango jacket is a great alternative and relatively well-priced for a leather jacket ($250 but they last forever!):

Here's Keira showing us how to seamlessly put together a lot of neutral colors and make it work. The mix of olive, black, white, camel and grey may seem like a lot but without any distinctive patterns and layered as it is, the look works fantastically. Time to break out some colored pants for fall!

~ (Faux) Leather Bomber Jacket

If you're fancy or just flushed with cash here are the actual booties Keira is wearing ( she is also wearing them in the photo below):

If you're more like me and love outlet malls and online sales these are for you:

Leave it to Keira to put together a comfy yet stylish travel outfit. Seriously, I have never looked this good stepping off a plane, I'm jealous.  Maybe if I actually try at the airport instead of just throwing something on, I'll walk off the plane looking refreshed and flawless like Keira (doubtful).

What do you think of Keira's style?( if you don't like it oh well, there will definitely be more of her outfits on this blog in the future!) Would you wear any of these pieces? Let me know in the comments!
