Yays and Nays: Celebrity Style This Week

It's the end of the week again! Time to share my opinions on what other people let themselves wear in public. This was a crazy week for the elite: TIFF(Toronto International Film Festival), New York Fashion Week and parties for both. I tried to narrow it down to my usual 10 outfits but it was a bit difficult. Surprisingly, there were a lot of fantastically dressed people this week!

Here are the women who stepped up their style game this week and looked splendid:

MINDY KALING photo | Mindy Kaling

I adore Mindy Kaling. She's hilarious (seriously check out her Instagram and Twitter), smart and is never afraid to say what she really thinks about any topic. She is a great role model for women everywhere.  In addition to being an all around amazing person, Mindy knows how to dress. If you have seen her Instagram, you know she loves fashion and dressing up. Whether for work or lazing around the house, she's got on something fabulous! This outfit is no exception. The navy color of this Aurora Dress from Opening Ceremony looks great on her skin tone. The jewels all over the dress are beautiful and in a unique pattern. The white shoes play off the dark dress and are gorgeous. You can't see it, but the heels of the shoes are bejeweled! Her minimal makeup and ultra shiny hair look amazing. Well done, Mindy!

JENNIFER CONNELLY photo | Jennifer Connelly

Can you believe this woman has had three children?! Me neither (look at her teeny waist). Jennifer Connelly looks fantastic. She has great style and knows how to always dress for her age, the season and event. Here she is at the press conference for her new film Shelter. The play on patterns and material in the top and skirt go well together. I love that it's all black but in the right light, the sparkles on the top shine through. I'm not crazy on the shoes but overall, Jennifer's looking good!

MEGAN FOX photo | Megan Fox

Does Megan Fox have any flaws? Not that I can tell in this picture. Navy and black is one of the best color combinations. To anyone who says they don't look good together, look at Megan. Besides being the perfect shape, the black high necked top is the perfect fit for her bodycon, zippered pencil skirt. The Jimmy Choo's on her feet aren't too shabby either.

Keira Knightley is one of my favorite actresses. She may also be the most beautiful person on Earth. If you can't figure it out ( which would be embarrassing) she is wearing a Chanel dress. Keira is the face of Coco Mademoiselle and a close friend of Karl Lagerfeld, therefore she often is seen in the brand. Normally, I am not a fan of labels everywhere but on this beautiful boucle dress it just works. I love the combination of colorful C's ( and the number five and the word Chanel) with the black and white monochrome background. There is also a darling Peter Pan collar hiding under her hair. I wish she had chosen different shoes, but I'll ignore them and just stare at the dress!

I am in love with this 3.1 Phillip Lim outfit Rose Byrne is wearing at TIFF. From the mint green floral embroidery to the mixing of textures (netting on the sleeves and the black floral lace at the bottom) to the great pointed pumps, it's impeccable. Her wavy bob and plum colored lipstick go perfect with this darker look. Nothing to complain about, I would wear this entire look!

Keira's style game was on fire at TIFF and so naturally, I  had to include this absolutely stunning Chanel dress. This dress fits her perfectly and it's beautiful.  The tulle skirt and bows on the back of the heels add a feminine touch to play off the square shoulders. Her hair and makeup are simple but look good. Great job, Keira ( and your stylist), please go to more events so we can all enviously stare at your sensational outfits!

Here are the people who should not leave the house ever again if they can't get it together:

When I first saw this photo I laughed. It is typical of Miley Cyrus to dress terribly these days and this is no exception. It looks like Lisa Frank vomited  everywhere and that made her outfit. Actually, Miley made her accessories and they are part of her "art" show entitled Dirty Hippie . They were also part of the Jeremy Scott Show during New York Fashion Week( don't ask me why he would allow this). In her hair she has some sort of ice cream/ barrette situation going on. I have no idea how that thing is staying up. Her necklace and bracelets are made up of the colorful and lettered beads found in friendship bracelet packs for seven year olds. The necklace also features a tree car freshener,  a cigarette and what looks like a doll's head. Marijuana earrings adorn her ears. Stay classy, Miley. The clothes are chaotic and crazy. The top is just a colorful sports bra. The pants look like a child's sheets stitched together. At least her abs looks great. Now that I've examined this picture for so long, I need to go wash my eyes out.

PAULA ABDUL photo | Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul looks amazing for her age there's no doubt about it. However, that does not mean she should be wearing a micro mini made from ostrich feathers. The snake print belt around the middle does not go at all ( but what does) with this skirt. If she was a dancer on Dancing with the Stars this look would be ideal but she's not so it needs to be done away with. My only positive is that her hair looks great.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. That's Miley Cyrus walking down the street with those heinous buns in her head and ice cream pasties on her boobs. I'm almost speechless. Since when is it acceptable to walk around wearing pasties and sparkly leggings? I get it Miley, you're cool now and a hippie and have songs with Snoop Dog, but good lord, please try to  look in the mirror with your red rimmed eyes and see yourself for what you look like in your clothes or lack thereof. It's offensive to everyone.

JENNIFER LOPEZ photo | Jennifer Lopez

Usually Jennifer Lopez looks amazing on the red carpet. Sadly, she only looks good from the chin up here. This dress is a tad too ghetto fabulous. There is a gold collar around her neck leading to a gold train track going straight down her chest going into yet another gold collar around her waist. That cannot be comfortable. And talk about a high slit! I should be seeing underwear but maybe she's not wearing any, or it's just really good tape. The hoops are bigger than my hand which is not acceptable and must be killing her earlobes. The only positives are her great shoes and clutch and obviously her body looks killer.

JENNIFER MORRISON photo | Jennifer Morrison

Jennifer Morrison is taking the effortless look a little too literally here. This dress is too big on her and reminds me of a nice pajama dress a grandmother would wear. It is doing her figure no favors. The shoes look clunky and have awkward cutouts. It would have been better if she had worn a strappy sandal.  Also, that bag is not a clutch and shouldn't be held like one . The only positive is that I guess the dress does look comfortable.

Picture Copyright APRita Ora looked um... interesting last night, didn't she?

Here is Rita Ora at Fashion Rocks. I appreciate that she has her own unique sense of style , but there's a line between unique and ugly. The top of the dress is okay even with the sheer paneling down the arms. However, from the waist down everything goes wrong. I know for a fact that Rita is not a ballerina so I don't know why she's wearing a mini tutu.I'm sure if she bent over we would see just a bit too much. Her hair (taking a cue from Miley) looks like the ridges on a dinosaur's back. It's probably painful to have it in those tight little buns but fashion is pain sometimes right, Rita? The whole look is a mess and shouldn't have been worn to an event where fashion is celebrated.

What do you think of these looks? Do you love or desperately wish to destroy any of them? Let me know in the comments!
